Frits and glazes

Frits are technical pieces of glass that are the main component of ceramic glazes and other vitrifying goods or containing a vitreous phase.
Glazes are vitrifying suspensions containing frits and other raw materials, colour stains, salts, additives, etc., that when going through a milling process and applied in small particles on ceramic support, allow different finishes depending on the formulation and raw materials used. Compositions ready to be grinded may be prepared on customer’s request.
Due to the multiple existing applications, technologies and firing methods, we offer our customers a wide range of frits and glazes manufactured using first quality raw materials and going under strict quality controls. CCT provides the suitable product required in each specific case and a solid technical department is at our customers’ disposal in order to offer solutions adapted to customers’ needs.

Ceramic frits and glazes

CCT has developed a great variety of frits and glazes for the varied manufacturing processes and temperatures used in the market. These frits allow any type of finishes (matt, glossy and semi-glossy) as well as opaque or transparent glaze formulations and providing different touches from satin to rustic.

Frits are available for all temperature ranges:

  • Frits and glazes for wall-tiles and floor-tiles: firing temperature from 1100ºC to 1180ºC.
  • Frits and glazes for porcelain stone ware: firing temperature over 1170ºC up to 1225ºC.
  • Frits and glazes for double firing: suitable for traditional processes between 1000ºC and 1100ºC.
  • Frits and glazes for third firing: different formulations that allow optimal results for temperatures from 700ºC to 1000ºC.

Frits for engobes

CCT offers highly opaque frits for engobes and engobe compositions for all working temperatures.

In addition, we also provide correcting frits that, when used in low percentages, they allow correcting expansion coefficient adjustment of supports in order to correct any possible curvature in final product.

Frits for glass

CCT has a wide range of frits used by glass industries for working temperatures between 580ºC and 700ºC.

Reactive frits and special frits

These are special frits characterized by their high reactivity. They allow us to get distinguishing effects, more refined surfaces and unique colours depending on the raw material used. Their use in decorating pieces is very spread out.

Melting frits

These materials are able to melt using low temperature. This is the reason why they are used to start reactions during the glaze firing process and to amalgamate materials during low temperature cycles.

Frits for abrasives and other uses (heaters, piping, etc.)

We offer a wide range of frits for abrasive industries, particularly fusion and union frits. They are manufactured using high quality raw materials that can be used in different applications between 700ºC and 1300ºC.

Frits for building industry

As time goes by, we have improved a wide range of frits specially made to satisfy building industry needs (bricks, tiles, etc.)
